This maragata house is situated only 10 km away from Astorga in a small castilian town called Valdespino. Tierra de Maragatos in Leonese language, is an ancient historical region in the landlocked Province of León, Spain. The Maragatos form a small ethnic and cultural community with distinctive customs and architecture. The Maragata women used to wear a striking regional dress that made them stand out when they travelled to other parts of Spain. They were wealthy families and one of their main trading goods between Galicia and Madrid were fishery products. The maragato houses are surrounded by a wall and build in L form with a central patio. Casa Valdespino consists of three sleepingrooms for a maximum of 6 persons, a kitchen, a big livingroom and two bathrooms, one of them belongs to one of the bedrooms.
